Pressing Service July - December
60% of the apples we eat and drink in the UK are imported!
Yet 90% of home-grown apples fall and go to waste. The best way to preserve and share your apples throughout the year, is to press them.
You Harvest
What types of fruit make the best juice?
Eaters, cookers, pears all work, and have their own distinctive taste.
What about Pears?
Yes – but they need to be mixed with apples – 60 / 40.
Pick your Apples when they are ripe - pick within a quarter twist
Apples ripen from July to December, there is no one perfect day. So consider bringing another batch later on.
Please don’t bring any apples with rot, mould or mud. A slight bruise is ok “If you’d eat it, we’ll press it”.
Quantity - We can press as many or as few apples from a bucket to a ton.
Dropping off
When can I deliver?
A soon as your fruit is ripe. We are ready in August for early varieties – September, October and November are the peak months – and late varieties hold on till December.
Bring your apples and pears in open boxes, not plastic bags – they can sweat and rot.
On arrival one of our lovely team will help you off load and you simply complete our customer form.
Then – we do the rest:
Pressing
We Wash and Check
Every apple is checked and washed; removing any fruit that could affect the taste.
We Pulp and Press
We use modern equipment to shred your apples into a pulp (pomace) and then press it to squeeze out the delicious juice.
Each batch is kept separate from others, to ensure you get your own juice back. The pomace is not wasted, but is fed to local livestock.
There are NO ADDITIVES, the juice comes solely from the apples supplied. The sweetness & taste depends completely on the variety, ripeness and condition of the actual apples.
We Bottle and Pasteurise
250ml, 750 ml glass bottles or 2.5 pouches are filled with your juice and pasteurised so that it can keep for over a year.
Once opened, it should be kept in a fridge and consumed within 3 – 5 days for bottles and 4 weeks for pouches
We Label
We then print bespoke labels with your own house name, adding a best before date.
Collecting your Bottles
We email an invoice, you pay online and return to collect
Your email & invoice is the signal your bottles are ready for collection.
